What is Spiritual Mastery?

We all have a common purpose in life: to learn, grow and improve in order to uncover true self.

To understand “Spiritual Mastery” it is essential to understand the meaning of the word spirit. Spirit means that which is not physical and that which relates to your deepest thoughts and feelings; that which is invisible and is therefore your real self and not your often mistaken self-image. Spirit also implies the core or essence of something, and again in this context would mean your self / soul / your intrinsic self.

To attain mastery of something is to gain knowledge of and have victory over it. To achieve mastery over your-self then means that you are in knowledgeable charge of or in control of, your real self: that nothing or nobody has control over you and that you have no need to have control over anything or anybody. There is a hint at genuine choice and true freedom.

The means to this end is through the process of self-knowing and self-awareness. To comprehend the concept of “self-awareness”, you must understand that the process of human development is one of constant referral back to self. It is not enough to just acquire information and knowledge about yourself, as this is external from the self. You have to learn to process the given information through self-exploration and transformation. This is a continual learning process, and where you begin to understand that all your knowledge comes from within you anyway. You know that you exist because you see, feel, touch, smell and hear yourself. All your knowledge has one common denominator; the relationship to and from self.
