National Parents as Teachers Day
Parents often expect schoolteachers to do the work of parents rather than recognising the important role that they themselves play in their children’s initial education – every child learns their first lessons at home. Parental involvement in their children’s education plays a huge role in their development and ability to realize their full potential emotionally, academically, spiritually, physically, and mentally. Parents must make full use of any education or support on offer that will help them, help their children through school.
Parents, in essence, should guide, love, nurture, nourish, protect, and lead by excellent example, teaching their children how to navigate their way through life, think for themselves, introspect deeply when searching for answers and develop strong self-sufficiency.
These are things that a teacher isn’t going to be focused on:
When faced with a choice, choose the path that strengthens you even though it will be the difficult path which will force you to solve problems you may not want to face. Deliberately choose to learn, choose to grow, choose to become fully you. Explore places where you’ve never been, look at ideas and concepts you’ve not considered before, because if you remain hidden and stuck in all that’s comfortable and familiar, your soul will grow weary. Reach out beyond the expected, find passion in your life and discover depth, richness and adventure whilst experiencing who you really are. Live a life that tests you and you will find purpose. Take risks emotionally, spiritually, physically, and mentally and you’ll feel genuinely alive. Step out from the safety of the known, expand, and then step out again using your new knowledge and perspective. Wash, rinse, and repeat. Live with curiosity and you will eventually come to know that happiness isn’t what you seek but contentment is everything. You will have discovered the skill of developing wisdom.
