National Faith Day

Faith is the complete trust or confidence in someone or something. We put our faith in a person, duty, or belief where trust is a necessity. Mostly, faith is considered a belief and trust in a God/God’s based on spiritual conviction without needing any proof.

There are three aspects of faith: who do we believe in, what do we believe in and why do we believe in this.  Faith tends to dissolve doubt and failure and brings hope that things will work out with a higher chance of success when coupled with actions. Faith encourages us to try new things, take risks and find purpose in life.  Faith teaches us to “let go and let God” or to surrender when necessary. Faith teaches us that we cannot or don’t always need to control everything and we can humbly accept that much of life is greater than us.

In religious doctrines faith is linked to a God or Gods. The purpose of religion is ultimately to externalize the divine, holy, immortal, or the Godly, separating it from mankind so that we can see it in a form that is tangible and accessible because it is visible. We don’t get in our own way when trying to connect with divinity. Religion’s structure is there to help us find divinity within ourselves, using the externalized form of divinity known as God, as our measure and goal in life.

Doesn’t it stand to reason that when looking to faith to help us overcome obstacles that we should be looking to ourselves? We must place faith in ourselves in order to move through whatever life’s challenges are because we are developing and maintaining our own divinity.  We are capable of having faith in our own connection with the invisible divinity of life that resides within us. Becoming self-sufficient on all levels is vital, because having the ability to turn inward for answers develops resilience, inner strength, courage, integrity and maturity.
