Entrepreneurs must develop self-awareness

Supporting Entrepreneurs – helping them build a strong emotional foundation.

Businesses are created and run by human beings, and the goal of all business is to sustain and increase profits as well as being able to serve individual needs and goals.

As an entrepreneur the business is driven by this individual’s personality, education, character, intelligence, life experience, and work ethic amongst other factors. A successful entrepreneur must master the skills of communication, sales, conscientiousness, learning, strategy. They must rely on patience, perseverance, being bold, taking risks, superior knowledge, foresight and trying things that have never been done.  The ability to learn continuously is a key skill in business as well as in life but what is often neglected is the entrepreneur’s ability to develop self-awareness. The capacity to manage emotions and to self-regulate, is a sign of maturity.

The way we manage ourselves, the way we respond to situations and the way we interact and work with others, is representative of our overall intelligence. It is emotional intelligence more than the other types of intelligence which tends to predict how well we do in life. Fortunately, emotional quotient (E.Q) can be consciously learned and integrated along with physical (P.Q) intellectual (I.Q) and spiritual quotients (S.Q). Human beings are aware of having a higher purpose in the bigger scheme of things and their performance levels are heightened when this is attended to. This comes not only from the functional ability in their work but from self-awareness. If entrepreneurs paid attention to the need to empower themselves as well as others not only with the acquisition of knowledge/ information (which is static), but learning as well, (which is active) then they would develop continuously, creatively, and dynamically. It’s the key to sustainable change.

The type of learning that is required is the process of self-knowing because mere knowledge or information is external from the self. Too many businesses emphasise the need to acquire “book knowledge.” Learning is the ability to process this knowledge through self-exploration and transformation.

Question: “How do we undergo self-transformation?” Answer: “Through identifying our trials and challenges in life, through understanding why we are here, and then having the courage to overcome these challenges.” The resulting benefits are happy, stable, well-balanced, and cooperative human beings who perform at their highest levels.
